David Dodd

Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer

GeoVax Labs Inc.

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Founded: 2001

Industry: Vaccines and Cancer Immunotherapies

David A. Dodd has more than 30 years of executive experience in the healthcare and life sciences industries. It was in 2018, though, that he assumed the role of president and CEO at GeoVax, with an initial focus on cleaning up a toxic capital structure, strengthening the balance sheet, uplisting the company to the Nasdaq and accelerating the company into clinical development.

Since then, GeoVax has successfully achieved each of these goals, significantly improving the outlook for near- and long-term growth in shareholder value, portfolio development and career development for those associated with the firm.

GeoVax Labs Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing preventative vaccines against infectious diseases and immunotherapies for treating cancer. Using proven proprietary platforms, GeoVax’s lead products are in multiple advanced human clinical trials in COVID-19, cancer and HIV. Additional research and development programs are working on preventative vaccines against Zika virus, hemorrhagic fever viruses and malaria.

“Mr. Dodd is recognized for transforming multiple companies, achieving significant shareholder value and growth while establishing leadership positions with the respective markets and industries,” said his colleagues. “He continues to build high-performance, results-oriented teams that are focused on improving the lives of patients worldwide.”

Dodd says every leader of an organization must ensure that the organization has a clear vision with objectives that are consistently communicated. “One of the greatest lessons learned for a CEO is the ongoing need to communicate throughout the organization with truthfulness, transparency and commitment,” Dodd said. “Leadership includes the commitment to remain true to one’s values, focused on the vision and achieving the key objectives necessary to achieve the vision.”

Serving your industry is also a key part of leadership, said Dodd. That’s why he has served in ongoing leadership roles in support of growing and developing the not-for-profit sector and the overall healthcare and life sciences industry. He has served as an advisory board member for a variety of organizations and was recently elected as Vice President Chair of the Executive Committee of the Medical CBRN Defense Consortium. During his time at GeoVax, the company was recognized with the Best Bio Tech Award.

“It is true that the more you give, the more you’ll receive in return,” said Dodd. “This provides a foundation for continued growth in leadership and impact.”

For his commitment to serving his industry, Dodd has been named a Titan.
