While other companies paused or took a step back during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cory Kwarta chose to do the opposite with Swisslog Healthcare, where he is CEO.
“When the pandemic struck, I saw an opportunity to push forward and try to improve our company’s situations — which was a huge risk,” Kwarta said. “As a result, Swisslog Healthcare saw increased sales while the rest of the industry faced a downturn. The next year, the organization saw its highest-ever order intake and gross order. Had we not taken the risk to push forward during the pandemic, Swisslog Healthcare would likely not see the success that it sees today.”
Swisslog Healthcare is an operational technology company in the healthcare industry. The values of Swisslog Healthcare are what the company calls the four Cs: commitment, competence, clarity and collaboration.
“We combine advanced transport and pharmacy automation solutions with integrated, accessible software to enhance performance and workflow efficiency, improve accuracy and enable better patient care,” the company said. “We are committed to our partners and improving patient outcomes.”
Kwarta was promoted in 2022 from president of Swisslog Healthcare North America to CEO of Translogic, a division of Swisslog Healthcare. The company was recognized last year as the Large International Company of the Year by the local chamber of commerce.
“I’m also proud to have led the organization toward its highest order intakes, revenue and profits during this time while also maintaining high customer service scores,” Kwarta said. “Later in the year, I was named as a member of the board of directors, entrusted with the success and strategic direction of the entire organization. After several months of hard work and planning, an opportunity presented itself that resulted in my appointment as CEO of Swisslog Healthcare. I now oversee the global operations of the entire organization, including the oversight in strategy and execution of the organization’s Medication Management division and Translogic. This past year has been unique and rewarding. I am proud of all my accomplishments from this year.”
Under Kwarta’s leadership, Swisslog Healthcare launched a mentorship initiative aimed at preparing the next generation of industry leaders. The program invites local students to work alongside Swisslog employees at its corporate offices and laboratories, allowing the next generation to transition into the workforce.
Swisslog Healthcare is also dedicated to equality and equity in the workforce, Kwarta said. The company has increased its female and minority leadership, with both external and internal promotions equating to 39% female leaders and 19% minorities in executive leadership. Swisslog Healthcare employees are 26% women, 5% people with disabilities and 27% minority. And 18% of the organization’s employees are U.S. military veterans, a mark that is more than three times the 5.7% national average, the company said.
