EPM

Location: Atlanta

Founded: 2008

Industry: Mortgage

Eddy Perez’s father was on the Cuban national baseball team and arrived in Miami, only to find himself homeless for the first week in the United States. With some kindness from the community and an entrepreneurial mindset, Perez’s father bootstrapped and created his own construction business.

“I was able to see firsthand what freedom of mind, spirit and career can do in someone’s life,” said Perez. After working in accounting and finance, Perez embraced his own entrepreneurial spirit and founded EPM Wholesale Mortgage.

EPM is a mortgage lender with a mission to provide the American gift of home ownership to everyone possible. The EPM team is a world-class global team of mortgage experts with diverse backgrounds who share a passion to lead the firm.

“Today, EPM is a national lender with a mission to empower people more and create an even playing field across the board in the home buying experience,” said Perez.

The firm relies on four fundamental beliefs, dubbed as 4CORE, that include show the way, unify through collaboration, own unique and struggle well. “Every part of EPM relates back to how we are seeking to connect employees, industry partners and our customers to the EMP culture internally and externally,” said Perez.

These values also emphasize the need to be an avid learner.

“Eddy is an avid learner and says from his father he has learned what it means to be a man, to be a father and to be a friend while he learned tenacity, grit and courage from his mother,” said his staff. “Eddy believes this is the perfect recipe to what has shaped him today and with those traits he strives every day to be 1% better than the day before.”

Under Perez’s leadership, EPM has grown 300% in a market where other mortgage lenders and companies are closing. He has been featured in The Hispanic Executive, CEOWorld Magazine, Crunchbase, Maverick CEO, Society for the International Development, Housing Wire and National Professional Magazine. Perez has served as the MORPAC chairman amid the COVID-19 crisis and serves on the board of directors for the Mortgage Bankers Association.

When providing advice to the future generation of titans, Perez said his advice always remains the same. “Ask yourself, if today was your last day on Earth, could you say you left your fellow man and America better than how you found it? If your answer is no, go do it,” said Perez.
