Gain

Location: Atlanta

Founded: 2010

Industry: Finance (Legal/Healthcare)

After a substantial financial setback in a business that proved vulnerable to economic downturns, Reid Zeising embarked on a new entrepreneurial journey with a profound mission. The genesis of Cherokee Funding, now known as Gain, arose from the ashes of a non-recession proof venture as Zeising discerned an opportunity to establish a company that genuinely aids those in need.

“We are on a mission to even the playing field with insurance companies and provide access to quality care for those in need and fair reimbursements for doctors who see these patients,” said Zeising.

Gain is a highly specialized professional services and solutions company providing managed services and financial solutions to serve healthcare providers, personal injury attorneys and plaintiffs. The firm is the critical hub connecting personal injury stakeholders and simplifying revenue cycle management for complex claims.

Forgoing a paycheck for the first six years to reinvest profits back into the business, Zeising grew the company to a 9-figure balance sheet and launched the Gain Servicing platform as a counterforce to Colossus, the insurance industry’s system designed to thwart legitimate claims. Gain’s services cater to the 100 million Americans with minimal savings, including 33 million who are uninsured.

“Reid’s entrepreneurial acumen and commitment to the mission bore fruit,” said his staff. “The Gain Servicing platform not only revolutionized the industry, but also fueled the company’s staggering growth. He is not just leading a successful business; he is pioneering a mission-driven approach to legal funding and medical lien servicing.”

Zeising’s impact extends far beyond the confines of Gain’s corporate walls. He has positioned the company to have a social impact that reaches across the nation with involvement in founding the Americans for Patient Access Association where he works to promote and expand access for uninsured and underinsured patients.

His efforts have earned him recognition as a Top 40 EY Entrepreneur of the Year from the Technology Association of Georgia, and the firm has been named to the Inc. 5000 for four consecutive years.

As a leader, Zeising said connecting with others is the key to successful leadership. “I believe in investing in your relationships with people, being vulnerable and sharing your experiences,” he said. “As you grow and benefit from life, pay it forward.”

If he could share advice with his younger self, Zeising said to raise your game. “Look around and know that you are the average of the five people you hang around with the most,” he said. “Invest in those people, raise your game – human connectivity is the most valuable thing we have, and time is our most precious asset.”
