Since becoming a Titan 100 in 2023, Mark Gershenson’s greatest accomplishment in the past year has been the continued growth of ARCH Design while overcoming a serious health crisis. ARCH continues to achieve record revenue and profitability, while continuing to invest in technology and advanced printing and fabrication equipment to scale the business to new heights.
This has all occurred while Gershenson recovered from major surgery to remove a cancerous tumor that was discovered as the result of a serious automobile accident. “Having an experienced team in place and little to no turnover allowed the business to continue to thrive and invest despite Mark’s lengthy absence from the business,” said his colleagues.
ARCH design improves the patient, resident and guest experience by providing integrated visual design and wayfinding solutions using artwork, graphics and signate. The interior design and furnishings company has a mission to deliver client-centered designs and products that enrich the places people live, work and heal.
According to Gershenson, taking the leap to purchase ARCH Design in 2017 was undeniably the most pivotal and daunting risk of his professional life. “After a 30-year tenure in corporate marketing roles, I reached a juncture where the allure of corporate America had dimmed significantly,” he said. “My extensive experience in marketing for consumer goods manufacturing had not only prepared me with the requisite skills for success but also instilled a deep-seated belief in my ability to steer a company toward prosperity.”
As a leader, Gershenson’s superpower is cultivating a team-first environment where each individual feels valued, understood and empowered. “I have a knack for recognizing people’s unique strengths and bringing them together to form a cohesive unit that’s greater than the sum of its parts,” he said. “The ability stems from a deep-seated belief that the best solutions and ideas are born from collaboration and diverse perspectives.”
By creating an atmosphere of trust and open communication, Gershenson said he enables the team to tackle challenges fearlessly, innovate continuously and exceed what they thought possible. “In essence, my superpower is transforming a group of individuals into a dynamic force with a shared vision and unwavering commitment to our collective successes,” said Gershenson. “It’s about making sure everyone knows they’re not just part of the team but a critical piece of our company’s journey. In a small business, this isn’t just beneficial; it’s essential and what I believe sets us apart.”
For leading his team with a shared vision and passion for cultivating a team-first environment, Gershenson has been named a second-year titan.
