NeuroEM Therapeutics

Location: Tampa, FL

Founded: 2013

Industry: Medical Technology

Chuck Papageorgiou’s journey from a fledgling engineer to a seasoned corporate leader epitomizes what it means to be an entrepreneur. His career is a tapestry of strategic acumen, timely opportunity, and a robust skill set molded by a series of transformative experiences that began right after graduating from an engineering-focused program and completing his military service.

After publishing an article in Network World Magazine, Papageorgiou caught the attention of UPS Net, where he was recruited to become the chief architect. He later moved to AT&T before transitioning to the financial services industry. Before his current role as chief executive officer of NeuroEM Therapeutics, Papageorgiou co-founded and served as chief executive officer of WorldWatch Plus, an AI-driven risk management company.

NeuroEM Therapeutics has a mission to revolutionize the treatment of cognitive decline through groundbreaking Transcranial Electromagnetic Treatment (TEMT) technology by leveraging over a decade of rigorous clinical research to develop safe, effective, and non-invasive solutions that stop and even reverse cognitive deterioration, offering hope to millions affected by neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and those striving to maintain cognitive health throughout the aging process.

Papageorgiou’s first step upon taking over at NeuroEM Therapeutics was to restructure and reorganize. He understood that for NeuroEM to thrive, it was imperative to prioritize the company’s technological and operational health over individual disputes. Leveraging his extensive experience in corporate restructuring, Papageorgiou executed a series of strategic actions.

“Chuck’s comprehensive understanding of both the scientific and business aspects of the company uniquely positioned him to lead the company,” said his colleagues. “His ability to comprehend intricate technology, coupled with his acumen in navigating the product to market, and his prowess in assembling a top-tier team, underscore his exceptional qualifications.”

A true entrepreneur, in addition to his role as chief executive officer, Papageorgiou is a co-founder and managing partner at Ideasphere Partners LLC, where he offers executive services and leadership in strategic and operational transformations. His commitment to fostering innovation is further demonstrated by his involvement with the Tampa Bay Wave and the Lowth Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Tampa, where he supports the startup community and nurtures new talent.

Business leaders need to be focused on more than just results, said Papageorgiou. “They must be able to blend visionary thinking and pragmatic execution, and effectively balance innovation with operational efficiency and profitability,” he said. “No matter how articulate a leader may be in describing a clear vision, building trust and navigating complex stakeholder relationships can only be accomplished by demonstrating commitment to ethical practices and social responsibility.”

What is your secret superpower?

I have contemplated that question many times over the years and I decided that I am an operator, and my only superpower is the ability to see patterns in one area, normalize them, and then apply them to other relationships, businesses, technologies, problems, etc.
