Erin Snyder

Executive Vice President

EM Key Solutions, Inc.

Location: Saint Petersburg, FL

Founded: 2015

Industry: Government Contracting - Mission Support and Information Technology

Mike Snyder has been driving change in the federal health community for over four decades. A certified healthcare executive and retired Navy Medical Service Corps officer, Snyder was the principal advisor/deputy program executive officer for Joint Medical Information Systems (JMIS), providing leadership, managing IT programs, and transforming the business, clinical, and force-health protection systems that support healthcare IT operations.

He has continued his commitment to health, first with c-level roles at other companies and now as chief executive officer of EM Key Solutions (EMKS), an SDVOSB focused on Veterans’ health.

As the chief executive officer for EMKS, Snyder communicates and leads the internal implementation of the company’s vision, tone, and strategic direction. His vision is to continue making a difference as a premier provider of high-impact support. Snyder has successfully led and delivered on major challenges in IT operations, both in the commercial and government sectors. He actively provides day-to-day leadership and oversight of all operations management, strategic planning, subcontractor management, contract administration, project planning and execution, recruiting, and business development.

One of the company achievements that Synder spearheaded is the EMKS Veteran Onboarding Liaison Vehicle (EVOLVe), an internal EMKS workgroup supporting Veteran employees. He was chosen as a recipient of the FedHealthIT100 award (two years in a row), and was added to the FedHealthIT100 hall of fame and the FORUMIT100 hall of fame in 2023 and 2024, identifying him as part of a class of individuals who have a long-standing impact within the federal health IT community. Synder was also chosen as a G2Xchange disruptive tech change agent award winner and was named a 2024 Engage federal health honoree.

Along with regular growth, the firm acquired two wholly owned subsidiaries, which gave Snyder an ideal opportunity to review, evaluate and update employee benefits.

Overall employee well-being is one of the highest priorities for Snyder. “There are not many CEOs who will take the time to call employees or personally answer emails when they have concerns, but Mike views his employees holistically as people, not as commodities,” said his staff.

Synder said his primary belief is that at a great company, everyone contributes,” said his staff. “I’ve found over the years that operating in an environment of high integrity, excellence, kindness and caring leads to success,” said Snyder. “I will say listening and not responding to every comment sometimes makes folks nervous, but I like to hear what they have to say and respond in a thoughtful, complete manner.”

What is your secret superpower?

I asked my mom what my secret superpower is. “Inspiration. They find a way to overcome every obstacle. These individuals are innovative and forward-thinking. They dedicate their lives to their cause, for the better of everyone, not just themselves. A person can genuinely be admired by many because they are authentic and congruent.”

She says I give people opportunities when no one else does.

My husband and I come from a humble, poor background. When someone asks how we got to where we are, yes, the standard answers are hard work, dedication, and drive. These apply. Some of it is just dumb luck. Someone took a chance on us and gave us an opportunity. Right place, right time.

I do tend to believe in people more than they believe in themselves at times. Sometimes, that’s all a person might need—an opportunity to believe in themselves. In a way, it’s paying it forward and remembering opportunities given to me.
