When the financial crisis of 2007-2008 caused turmoil for John Mejia’s father’s nightclub, he and his brother stepped in to help. The family brainstormed to determine the best entrepreneurial path, and armed with a gear bucket, vacuum, brooms, and their father’s extensive knowledge of the janitorial industry, Mega Service Solutions was formed.
After obtaining his bachelor’s and master’s degrees and serving in the Army for 11 years, John Mejia decided it was time for a new chapter in his life and returned home to take over as chief executive officer of the company. Mega Service Solutions has a mission to provide an exceptional end-to-end facility management experience for its partners, to create healthy, safe and inviting working environments across all industries.
Under Mejia’s leadership, Mega Service Solutions experienced remarkable growth. His approach, combined with his family’s hard work and dedication, led to the company increasing its overall revenue year after year. The company earned recognition as the Tampa Bay Times best workplace of 2024 and a semifinalist for the small business of the year by the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce. Mejia has also supported Gold Star Families, providing critical assistance to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Looking forward, Mejia said he has an ambitious goal to reach $25 million in revenue within the next five years, scale operations and strive to be a model of corporate responsibility by implementing sustainable practices, reducing the company’s environmental footprint, and fostering a culture of integrity and transparency.
“John’s passion extends beyond business success; he is deeply committed to philanthropy and community service and demonstrates exceptional leadership and influence in his field,” said his staff. “His story of overcoming adversity, leading with vision, and making a meaningful impact aligns perfectly with the Titan 100’s mission.”
According to his staff, Mejia’s story is one of perseverance, leadership, and a deep commitment to both his professional endeavors and his community. “His journey from humble beginnings to achieving significant milestones in both the military and business sectors is a testament to his unwavering determination and exceptional leadership skills,” they said.
Mejia said the most important attributes of successful leaders include integrity, adaptability, empathy and strategic vision. “The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and quickly pivot strategies is crucial,” he said. “This is especially important in facility management, where unexpected challenges can arise frequently.”
Decisiveness is also essential, he said. “Decisive leaders can effectively manage operations and respond to emergencies or opportunities in a timely manner,” said Mejia. “Embracing innovation and continuously seeking ways to improve processes and services is essential for staying competitive in the facility management industry.”
