While reflecting on the past year, two-time Titan 100 Lorraine Tallman has learned the importance of vulnerability. “I have come to understand that it is not only acceptable but essential to be open and transparent about my journey to where I am today,” she said. “I have learned that being vulnerable does not diminish my leadership – it strengthens it – and by sharing my own challenges, triumphs and personal growth journeys, I can create an environment where others feel empowered to do the same.”

This lesson has served Tallman well as the founder and chief executive officer of Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels.

Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels is a nonprofit organization with a mission to bring dignity and comfort into the harsh world of childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The organization offers free support services including Comfycozy’s for Chemo adaptive apparel, comfort and care counseling, major distractions events and financial assistance.

In the past year, Tallman said her greatest accomplishment has been collaborating with younger generations. She has worked with local colleges to engage their students and educate them about the world of childhood cancer and family-centered care while aiming to inspire them to pursue careers in healthcare. Tallman also teaches new hires at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and presents at colleges.

“This platform allows me to emphasize the importance of prioritizing the child and family, ensuring that the hospital delivers care in a meaningful way,” said Tallman. “My goal is to avoid any patient from feeling like a number on a piece of paper or a checkbox on a medical staff’s to-do list.”

Tallman is active in service work and mentorship initiatives with women’s groups where she participates in discussions on the experiences and challenges faced by women chief executive officers. “Through mentorship, I strive to provide guidance, support, and encouragement to aspiring leaders, helping them navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship and leadership with confidence and resilience,” she said. “These leaders include our own warrior parents who seek to create their own nonprofit organizations in honor of their warriors, and I mentor them through the initial stages while illustrating how grief, confusion, struggles and heartache can evolve into a legacy of hope.”

Looking ahead, Tallman said the organization’s primary goal is to address the population growth in Arizona by expanding outreach efforts. To achieve this goal, she is working to secure a new space that will serve as the hub for expanded operations and explore opportunities through new partnerships, innovative programs and strategic initiatives.

My secret superpower is vision implementation and product development. I have a knack for envisioning innovative ideas and turning them into reality. This involves not only identifying opportunities and conceptualizing new programs and services but also planning and executing every step of the development process. I attribute the success of our Comfycozy’s for Chemo adaptive apparel line to this superpower, which has enabled us to deliver our adaptive apparel to patients internationally.
My ability to see the bigger picture while managing the finer details ensures that new projects move seamlessly from concept to completion. This superpower allows me to consistently bring desperately needed programs to the community, driving our organization forward and setting us apart in the industry.
