Mike Godbehere’s interest in the construction industry started at an early age working alongside his father who was a union plumber. He spent many years with his father in the field and was drawn to the challenge of construction and the satisfaction of seeing the fruits of his labor each day. This led him to pursue a degree in construction management before he served in various management positions for Intel Corporation including project manager where he was in charge of projects in excess of $500 million.
With nearly a decade of invaluable experience, Godbehere was motivated to create his own legacy in construction and with a long-time friend, co-founded GCON Inc.
GCON Inc. has a mission to provide full-service construction management services and forge solid relationships with clients through proven performance – project after project. Today, the firm is one of the West Valley’s fastest-growing contractors due to its reputation for superior customer service and efficient project delivery.
Under Godbehere’s leadership, the firm has grown into a nationally known construction management company with nearly 200 employees and is licensed in 30 states. Godbehere attributes the amazing success and continued growth to the commitment and dedication of his team which exhibits his vision and mission every day. Just in 2023 alone, Godbehere led his team of industry leaders to surpass $250 million in revenue.
“He can be best described as someone who is motivated to serve others with the end goal of improving the lives of the people at GCON as well as their clients’ lives,” said his staff. “Mike works at being an innovator who is forward-thinking but also to inspire those who he leads and clients he serves.”
Godbehere also seeks to promote and support efforts that make the lives of those facing challenges easier. He gives each employee an additional paid week off each year to support community nonprofits and other charitable endeavors. Godbehere serves on the board of directors of Leadership West and shares presentations to businesses during the course of the year with the purpose of helping others understand one another.
“I believe leadership is a lifelong journey where we are constantly learning and adjusting with the ultimate goal to inspire others and do great things together,” said Godbehere. “The key to being a great leader is understanding that it’s a journey where everyone makes mistakes and that we are human; allow people to grow, learn and teach while always focusing on the vision of what brought you together.”
