From a young age, Arthur Zayas Miller was driven by a deep appreciation for hard work, a strong sense of community and the importance of family. “Growing up on Chicago’s South Side, I witnessed the resilience and determination of my mother, who came from Puerto Rico and raised me with unwavering dedication,” he said. “Her strength and tenacity became the foundation of my own work ethic and values.”
After serving in the U.S. Army, Zayas Miller joined the corporate world but felt a strong drive to create something meaningful for his family and community. In 1999, he founded MZI Group Inc., with the vision of building a company that excelled in the industry and upheld the values of integrity, family and community.
Under his leadership, MZI has grown from a small operation into a powerhouse in the construction industry, expanding its reach across 22 states in the Southern U.S. The company has diversified its service offerings, including expertise in electrical, telecom, mechanical, energy infrastructure, utility projects and building services. More recently, MZI Group has led the charge in sustainable energy solutions, specializing in electric vehicle charging infrastructure and solar energy projects.
Zayas Miller has overseen the company’s strategic expansion into new markets and service areas, including the establishment of three key operating entities: Adelante Logistics, Fulton Specialty Services and WJO Chicago. A major part of the company’s growth strategy has been its commitment to sustainability, with a focus on renewable energy solutions and green building practices.
As a leader, Zayas Miller emphasizes mentorship and collaboration within his organization. He has implemented programs that pair seasoned professionals with newer team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
“I foster a collaborative environment within my team, and by sharing my experiences and enthusiasm for our mission, I inspire them to connect with their own passions,” he said. “By intertwining our business objectives with community engagement, I keep my focus sharp on building a brighter future for both MZI Group and the communities we serve.”
Philanthropy and community engagement are also central to Zayas Miller’s vision for the company. He has played an active role in local organizations, serving on boards that focus on health initiatives, veteran resources and mentoring small businesses. Over the past five years, MZI Group has contributed nearly half a million dollars to support various causes, especially those benefiting underserved communities.
“Giving back is not just a personal commitment; it’s a fundamental aspect of our company culture,” said Zayas Miller.
