As the chief executive officer of CECOP USA, Ignacio Macias reignites his passion for leadership and the industry by encouraging a culture of collaboration and creativity. “By fostering an environment where new ideas are welcomed, I help ignite the same sense of purpose and passion in others that drives me,” he said. “In doing so, the entire organization stays aligned, motivated, and ready to achieve new levels of success together.”
Since the company’s inception in 2021, Macias has steered the firm to success and growth with a focus on innovation, operational excellence and sustainability. Under his guidance, CECOP USA has solidified its reputation as a trusted partner for independent eye care professionals (ECPs), empowering them to enhance their businesses and improve patient experiences.
In just three years, Macias has overseen remarkable advancements, including a 40% growth in membership and a 35% revenue increase. A cornerstone of this success has been the company’s investment in digital transformation, creating a seamless procurement platform powered by advanced analytics. By expanding supplier networks and launching exclusive educational programs, Macias has fostered deeper engagement and retention among members.
Macias’s strategic foresight extends to sustainability, as evidenced by partnerships with eco-friendly suppliers, meeting the rising consumer demand for ethical practices. The two-time Titan 100 has also led several initiatives in the past year, including achieving a 37% year-over-year EBITDA growth and surpassing the $2 million EBITDA milestone.
He also facilitated the acquisition and integration of a prominent buying group in the Northeast, adding 400 new stores to CECOP USA’s network. To further support ECPs, the company launched a lab services division that offers competitive pricing, aiming to grow EBITDA by 50% over the next two years. Under his leadership, CECOP USA was named the best company of the year in 2022 by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Macias is deeply committed to giving back to the community. Through the CECOP Foundation, which provides free eyeglasses to over 3,000 underserved individuals each month, Macias has expanded operations to three new locations, including a flagship site in Chicago.
Beyond philanthropy, Macias champions mentorship and professional development within his organization. He has implemented a robust career development program, offering employees tailored training, career direction and opportunities for personal growth.
“This mentoring initiative provides a safe and supportive environment where the newer generations can openly share their concerns, seek guidance and explore their professional aspirations,” he said. “Through this program, many young professionals have gained critical insights into the business world, often discovering that the realities of the industry differ significantly from what they were taught at university.”
