Recognizing 100 CEOs & C-level Executives

Kristen Prinz’s entrepreneurial journey is one of perseverance and vision. Dissatisfied with the traditional structure of law firms and the limited opportunities available to women, she launched her practice from a spare bedroom, driven by the conviction to create something innovative. Her first client, retained against all odds, remains with her firm today.

Since founding The Prinz Law Firm P.C. in 2009, Prinz has transformed it from a modest operation into a premier employment law practice based in Chicago. The firm is recognized for its expertise in employment law, workplace investigations, and culture audits, empowering clients to navigate challenges and foster healthier work environments.

The Prinz Law Firm has achieved significant growth internally by offering attorneys a path to equity partnership and externally through the introduction of services like culture audits under Prinz’s leadership. These comprehensive evaluations help businesses improve their workplace environments and avoid potential liabilities.

“One of our core values is having a growth mindset; in part, that means staying curious, which helps to keep me impassioned about what I do,” said Prinz.

As the workplace continues to evolve, Prinz said she is committed to staying ahead of emerging trends, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Her firm actively explores how AI can enhance efficiency and compliance while mitigating risks, preparing to lead the legal industry in this transformative area.

“I enjoy learning new things and seeing the field grow and change – reading about new laws or changes in the work environment helps to refuel my interest in the field,” she said. “I also maintain excitement about my work by networking and engaging with clients in the business community because hearing people speak passionately about what they do, how they are responding to challenges, and what they foresee happening to work on the macro and micro level has always been something that helps reignite the spark for my own profession.”

Her work has earned her numerous accolades, such as inclusion in Crain’s most influential women lawyers in Chicago and recognition as a top 100 Illinois super lawyer. A sought-after speaker and media contributor, Prinz is known for her insights on employment law, workplace dynamics and business negotiations. Prinz’s thought leadership extends beyond her practice—she is writing a book on negotiation strategies, aiming to share her expertise with a broader audience.

Beyond her professional achievements, Prinz is deeply involved in the community. She has served as president of the International Women’s Forum Chicago and holds board positions with organizations such as New Moms and the National Sleep Foundation.
