Recognizing 100 CEOs & C-level Executives

Cate Hollowitsch’s greatest accomplishment in the past year was securing and delivering a TEDx talk titled “Confessions of a Corporate Cobra,” which garnered over 25,000 views in the first three weeks. Through this process, she uncovered a profound leadership lesson that has significantly reshaped her approach to challenges and problem solving as the chief marketing officer of Nesnah Ventures, a family-owned private equity firm.

“I realized that my natural inclination has often been to approach obstacles like a lumberjack with a chainsaw—revving up, hacking through the issue with determination and moving forward relentlessly,” said Hollowitsch, a two-time Titan 100. “While this approach can be effective in quickly removing barriers, it lacks the finesse and precision required in many situations. The lesson I learned is the importance of balancing the decisive action of a lumberjack with the meticulous precision of a surgeon wielding a scalpel.”

In her role, Hollowitsch said she is deeply committed to driving growth and innovation within the firm’s portfolio companies. Over the past year, Hollowitsch and the leadership team developed and launched an innovative operating system known as True North OS™. This comprehensive system is designed to navigate the complexities of modern business, ensuring that the firm’s companies are agile, forward-thinking and well-prepared to adapt to changing market conditions.

“Understanding that culture is a cornerstone of sustainable success, we have developed a framework that fosters a positive, inclusive and productive work environment,” said Hollowitsch. “Through the creation and implementation of the True North operating system, I am leading Nesnah Ventures in its pursuit of excellence, innovation and adaptability. This initiative not only positions our companies for continued success but also exemplifies our commitment to forward-thinking leadership and strategic growth.”

Fostering an environment that nurtures the next generation of titans has been a key focus of Hollowitsch’s leadership journey. “Recognizing the importance of equipping young minds with the skills and confidence they need to succeed, I have dedicated significant efforts to mentorship and educational initiatives,” she said.

One of her most fulfilling roles is mentoring students in high school and college DECA programs. She has also established a personal brand development club at a local college. This club is designed to help students craft and refine their personal brands, equipping them with the tools they need for effective job hunting and interviewing.

“By providing guidance, resources, and support, I aim to empower young leaders to achieve their full potential and make meaningful contributions to their respective fields,” said Hollowitsch.
