Michael Hersh joined BrandPoint Services as a sales representative in 2008. He later acquired the company and, in eight years, has grown revenue from $9 million to over $100 million.
Hersh’s career in commercial construction spans over 20 years, during which he has led sales and operations teams in both small businesses and Fortune 500 companies. Prior to his role at BrandPoint, he served as the president of Legacy Retail Services, where he expanded the company’s offerings and spearheaded business growth by developing new markets and territories.
As the chief executive officer of BrandPoint Services, Hersh is focused on achieving the company’s BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) of becoming the premier provider of exceptional project management services for large multi- site organizations, generating revenues of $250 million or more within the next decade. He plans to accomplish this by implementing strategic cash management practices, integrating successful acquisitions and expanding revenue opportunities within existing customer accounts.
When Hersh took over as chief executive officer, one of the first things he implemented was a companywide summit. This summit has been going on for nearly 10 years and takes place in early January every year. Everyone in the company attends the weeklong event. The summit has helped to keep the company focused on yearly tasks and goals as well as improve the culture of the company, the business said.
Hersh has led two acquisitions since he took over the company, and both acquisitions are now fully integrated into BrandPoint Services, he said. “Although the approaches I took for the two acquisitions were totally different, the end result was the same and helped to propel BrandPoint Services to the next level,” Hersh said. “During that same time, we have successfully penetrated multiple new markets that have really accelerated the growth of the company. Additionally, our company has made the Inc 5000 fastest growing companies twice and has also appeared on Top Workplaces in Philly twice. I am a firm believer that growth and culture go hand in hand and that our employees are our greatest assets.”
Hersh grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Penn State University. He enjoys traveling to new places and spending time with his family. He has three daughters.
“My biggest risk I took (although one could say it was not a risk) was betting on myself. I was fortunate in the fact that I had the opportunity to invest in the company very early on,” Hersh said. “However, I felt the risk was very calculated and the opportunity far outreached the risk associated with it. Additionally, as we have added new products and services, this has provided a great source of new revenue streams for BrandPoint Services.”
