Audrey Monell is the president of Forrest Anderson Plumbing & Air Conditioning, a family-owned and operated business in Glendale.
As a third-generation family business, Forrest Anderson has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1961. Monell has upheld the core beliefs instilled by the company’s founder, emphasizing the importance of treating customers and employees with respect, delivering exceptional workmanship and always doing the right thing, the company said.
“When I first took over the organization, the nation was in a recession and the community was feeling its severe impacts,” Monell said. “Rather than back down, we pushed forward and persevered. As a result, we were able to increase the company’s revenue which now exceeds $5 million. We once again pushed through turbulent times when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted personal and business routines.
“Throughout the recession and pandemic, it was important for me to make sure that not a single employee was laid off. Those who left did so voluntarily, and we offered employees additional support if they needed anything to reassure them that they are considered family and are a top priority for the company.”
Under Monell’s leadership, Forrest Anderson has experienced significant growth and achieved numerous accolades. Monell was named an inductee of the 2022 Sun Devil 100 by Arizona State University and included in the inaugural Next Gen All Stars 20 Under 40 by Plumbing and Mechanical Magazine. She takes pride in making a positive impact on the local veteran community through initiatives such as the Annual Military Hero Giveaway, which provides a free air conditioning unit to a deserving veteran.
At Forrest Anderson, Monell has introduced products like the Air Scrubber Plus to promote healthier indoor environments and launched the Complete Service Experience, equipping technicians with technology to enhance customer interactions and provide transparent explanations of repairs or replacements.
Monell serves on the board of directors of the Metro Phoenix Plumbing Heating and Cooling Contractors Association, dedicated to advancing and educating the plumbing and HVACR industry. She previously worked with the Executive Women International Phoenix Chapter, supporting women’s careers through volunteering, fundraisers and scholarship programs.
Monell urges young women to explore career opportunities in traditionally male-dominated industries and organized the Women in Industry Workshop, where discussions about training, career options and overcoming challenges aim to encourage young women to consider careers in specialty trades. Through her involvement with the Executive Women International Phoenix Chapter, Monell has raised funds for scholarships and provided underfunded schools with essential supplies.
“One of the most important attributes of a successful leader in today’s world is to be a role model,” Monell said. “Leading by example, emphasizing values and acting as a mentor for employees are all crucial components for creating a positive work culture that inspires staff to support one another. Leading by example emphasizes open communication, encourages new ideas and helps the team to learn collectively through individual experiences.”
