When Tariq Farid was just 17 years old, he bought his first flower shop in East Haven, CT, and it was in that shop that he introduced the flower-style arrangements made completely of fresh fruit. Little did he imagine back then that one day there would be almost 1,000 Edible shops across North America. His daughter, Somia Farid Silber, grew up in Edible stores and since she was old enough to peek over the counter, she was working in all facets of the business.

After joining Edible full-time in 2016, Farid Silber served in senior leadership roles across various departments and now serves as the president of the company.

Edible is an e-commerce gifting company with the ability to do last minute delivery through our franchise system. As a retail gifting company, Edible has the ability to reach 80%+ of households in the U.S. within one hour.

In various roles at the company, Farid Silber managed all projects related to the company’s proprietary technology department and developed the Atlanta-based leadership team.

“As the company approaches its 25th anniversary, Somia’s team understands that she is committed to continuing the legacy her father has built through their family-owned business,” said her staff. “She brings new ideas that elevate the brand and meet the next generation of customers.”

Throughout the years, Farid Silber has not only developed innovative product collections and brand collaborations, but also worked to optimize the brand’s delivery capabilities. She also launched Edible NextGen that overhauled the virtual identity of the brand and touched all facets of the business from the retail experience to packaging and web design.

Her efforts earned her a spot in What Franchise’s 100 Influential Women: Ones to Watch, she was named one of the top 40 retail professionals under the age of 40 by Retail TouchPoints and design:retail and named as one of the most amazing women leading the e-commerce space by Yotpo.

“Leading a brand with a strong heritage means there is a lot of history that is important to understand when making decisions or working through challenges,” said Farid Silber.

Farid Silber said her superpower as a leader is her ability to understand problems swiftly and generate viable solutions. “In the face of challenges, my mind naturally gravitates toward a quick, systematic analysis of the problem at hand,” she said. “This enables me to grasp the intricacies swiftly and identify the underlying factors contributing to the challenge.”

Whether it’s a business dilemma, a project hurdle or a creative roadblock, Farid Silber said she thrives on the process of unraveling complexities and finding clarity amidst uncertainty.
