Throughout his medical career, Dr. Robert Babyar has been tapped to lead clinical teams at multiple organizations. From serving as chief resident during his last year of resident training to serving as medical director at CHC in Casa Grande, his ability to lead and expand services has been significant. Now, as the chief clinical officer at Adelante Healthcare, Babyar continues to foster the growth of the clinical services offered, both in the volume of care provided as well as a variety of services.
Adelante Healthcare is a federally qualified health center providing healthcare services with a mission that reads: Healthy people, sustained by healthy communities. Under Babyar’s leadership, the organization has expanded the care team at sites to include a behavioral health consultant, registered dietician and nursing support. He also directed the dental department to expand their service to the pediatric patient population with dental screening becoming a part of well-child visits.
Babyar is passionate about working with multiple training programs to help address the shortage of primary care providers by allowing their learners an opportunity to learn in the community health care center, which has proven invaluable to recruiting and retaining new medical providers into primary care.
In the next five years, the organization has a vision and goal to be the No. 1 FQHC in the state of Arizona by growing patients served to over 400,000 encounters, increasing revenues to $175 million dollars annually, and being recognized for high-quality, cost-effective care for the communities it serves.
“Having 18 years in clinical leadership has allowed Dr. Babyar to work on making the healthcare system that takes care of our most vulnerable and disenfranchised population function better,” said his colleagues. “The innovative ideas and changes that he is bringing to not only the medical care side but the business side of medicine are highly valued and will be sought after in the future.”
His staff said Babyar has an innate quality to lead others well. “While passionate about good healthcare, he is always able to balance various opinions and work with those who are having difficulty in finding solutions due to entrenched opinions or positions,” they said. “It is the ability to lead while providing a voice of reason that is one of his best qualities.”
According to Babyar, he relies on his voice of reason when leading. “Leaders must have the ability to see the big picture, step above the drama, and focus on the details and data for the goal that makes up the big picture,” he said.
