As a leader, Kurt Mangum II relies on his superpower to uplift and inspire others. “My genuine and approachable nature allows me to connect effortlessly with those around me, spreading positivity and encouragement,” he said. Being able to uplift others is crucial in his role as the co-founder of CoupleyFit™ where he has launched the wellness application, S.W.A.N.™, an initiative to streamline health practices and foster connectivity.
CoupleyFit™ is a Black-owned health and wellness lifestyle brand that is dedicated to empowering couples to achieve optimal health and well-being. With a mission to create generational health, CoupleyFit™ focuses on educating couples on the importance of holistic health through their innovative S.W.A.N.™ approach – sleep, water, activity and nutrition. Through digital content creation, CoupleyFit™ provides couples with valuable resources, tips and guidance on how to prioritize their health and wellness as a unit.
“With a forward-thinking approach, Kurt prioritizes integrations and anticipates consumers’ long-term needs, ensuring that CoupleyFit™ stays ahead of the curve in delivering personalized and cutting-edge solutions,” said his staff. “His visionary leadership and commitment to leveraging advanced technologies underscores his pursuit of excellence, setting a compelling roadmap for CoupleyFit™’s sustained success and continued impact in the health and wellness landscape.”
Mangum is also committed to mentoring and advocating for others both personally and professionally. Since becoming a Titan 100 last year, Mangum’s greatest accomplishment has included serving as an ambassador for the Walmart 10-year, $350 billion Open Call initiative, advocating for small and minority-owned businesses.
“Kurt is passionate about racial equity and expanding opportunities for minority-owned business owners,” said his staff. “Kurt’s transformative work with the CoupleyFit™ health and wellness brand has garnered widespread recognition in both local and national press, highlighting his positive impact on the community.”
Mangum also made history as the first Black vice president of strategic partnerships at the International Sports Sciences Association in its 35-year history, where he was instrumental in forming strategic partnerships to yield $8.5 million in annual revenue to connect people to the power of healthy living. He has also mentored at-risk youth in Chandler, playing a pivotal role in securing full-ride scholarships for two young men to attend D1 schools. His support for the Omega Youth Leadership Academy has facilitated opportunities for Black and Brown young men in the valley, too.
Embracing servant leadership, Mangum said successful leaders prioritize team needs. “Successful leaders lead from the front, setting an example for others, and compassion and empathy guide their decisions, fostering a supportive environment,” he said.
