When Audrey McGuckin was 16 and living in Scotland, she went to work in a factory where she had a great leader who could see raw talent. He pulled her off the factory floor and gave her an entry-level position in the human resources department.
His instinct and belief in me set me on a path to ascend to the c-level in a Fortune 200 company, said McGuckin. She then had responsibility for 250,000 employees with company annual revenue of $25 billion and this journey took her to Singapore.
By the winter of 2016, McGuckin found herself at a crossroads, deciding what she wanted to do next. Upon returning from my work assignment in Singapore, it became apparent that I wanted to do something different, she said. I had a burning desire to trailblaze and move out of the corporate world. I felt at home with the more ambiguous initiatives, tackling complex problems where the answer wasnt clear.
A discussion with a mentor changed the trajectory of her career path, leading to an entrepreneurial journey as the founder of the McGuckin Group, a business consulting firm. The business spans such diverse regionsfrom Romania and Ukraine to Scotland, Thailand, India, China and Taiwan.
I realized my love of strategizing and complex problems within organizations was fundamentally entrepreneurial, which is why I was outgrowing my existing company as it entered a new, more corporate phase, McGuckin said. I already had a predisposition toward breaking new ground and founding my own initiatives; I just hadnt thought of it that way.
McGuckin transformed her company from a modest $7,500 inception to a seven-figure revenue stream over the past five years. The firm serves esteemed Fortune 500 clients like eBay, Kaiser Permanente, Johnson & Johnson, and Microsoft.
Audreys strategic vision and execution are unparalleled in their excellence, said her staff. She possesses a remarkable ability to envision the future landscape of our industry and chart a course toward it with precision and clarity.
According to McGuckin, the companys approach isnt just about delivering solutions. Its about igniting a journey of growth, empowerment and lasting change, she said. Through our work, leaders gain new insights, perspectives, and skills that fundamentally alter the trajectory of their personal and professional lives.
Reflecting upon her success, McGuckin said, Mindset is powerful, and I believe where theres a will, theres a way.
