Phara McLachlans entrepreneurial journey that led to the launch of Nahteava LLC, is marked by early influences, significant career milestones, personal challenges, and a renewed vision for her business endeavors.
Her entrepreneurial spirit was nurtured from a young age by her mother, Carolle, who founded a Haitian newspaper distributed throughout New York. This experience sparked her interest in creating solutions, such as an asset management database to track distribution routes, equipment, revenues, and expenses, an experience that laid the foundation for her future career.
After college, McLachlan worked at a dot-com company before joining a small consulting firm where she gained extensive experience in IT and software asset management, business process improvement, systems integration, and technology advisory.
Recognizing a market need for a vendor-agnostic consulting firm, McLachlan founded Animus in 2004. Under her leadership, Animus grew rapidly, expanding its services and client base, even achieving a growth rate of 120% during the economic meltdown of 2008. She ultimately sold the company and rekindled her passion for consulting by founding Nahteava with a mission to empower organizations.
Nahteava is an independent consulting and advisory firm with a holistic approach, offering unbiased and trusted advice and solutions in IT asset management, software asset management, strategy, and technology advisory. McLachlan has received numerous accolades and awards, such as top 50 women leaders of Tampa for 2024, top 50 women chief executive officers of 2024, the business leaders top 50 entrepreneurs in Tampa Bay, and many more. In 2018, she authored a book on IT and software asset management, further cementing her expertise and establishing her as a thought leader and influence in the IT asset management and consulting field.
McLachlans greatest source of pride lies in her mentorship program for women in technology. This initiative reflects her commitment to empowering and uplifting others within the tech industry, particularly women who may face unique challenges and barriers, said her staff.
As a leader, McLachlan said that integrity, innovation and adaptability are necessary attributes. Strong leaders are truthful and transparent in all dealings while adhering to a strong set of moral principles, she said. Resilience allows leaders to recover quickly from setbacks and maintain a positive attitude while being open to change and willing to adapt strategies as needed.
