Dedicated Carriers, Inc

Location: Tampa, FL

Founded: 1994

Industry: Logistics

Rob Hoffman has made an immediate impact in the logistics industry because of his vision. He is able to apply business logic in every scenario but does it by looking deep into and well outside of the box, said his staff.

Upon Hoffman’s arrival at Dedicated Carriers Inc. (DCI) in 2021, his first tasks were to completely change the company’s tech-stack to allow for scalability. DCI went totally cloud-based, helping to accommodate employees based in other parts of the country, allowing for more of such growth, and also helping to formulate new versions of tried-and-true standard operating procedures within the new scalable technology. In addition, Hoffman grew his management team to help with these tasks and begin to prep for growth.

After about 20 months in the chief executive officer role, Hoffman began to lead the team in two growth paths. The first was the company’s long-standing growth path of adding extraordinary talent from across the industry. A Houston, Texas office opened under his guidance and his team’s management, and nearly immediately this Houston office became responsible for about 20% growth of the year-over-year sales volume numbers for DCI.

The second path was new to DCI and showed extraordinary promise. This path was to utilize technology to acquire sales. In the first 5 months of launching this path, it has accounted for 49% growth in year-over-year sales volume.

Hoffman has instituted core values at DCI that have created an exciting identity of never-ending improvement and growth, along with being heard all over the floor of the office always saying, “If you measure it, you can manage it,” driving his team to understand the intricacies of their work so they can perform better consistently.

“I am very much an advocate of a ‘first who, then what’ approach and feel my work as a leader is most important in building the right team, all aligned and moving toward the same targets all of the time,” said Hoffman. “Enabling my team is paramount to everything. The more I can get their input and buy-in to a direction we choose when solving a problem, the deeper their understanding of that solution is and the more committed they are to making it succeed.”

Helping others in the community and industry succeed is also a key part of Hoffman’s leadership. He has a long history of speaking on national and international platforms across many industries, sharing his knowledge at the National Disasters Expo and the International Retail and Supply Chain Logistics Expo.

“I have not been constrained to corporate boxes and have been able to make my own way, and the risk of doing it in my own direction has been key to my success,” said Hoffman.
