Brian McNally began his journey in the mid-1990s, working for his father, a home builder, and later for his brother in the HVAC industry. Inspired by his late father’s dream of family collaboration, McNally transitioned from working side jobs to launching McNally’s Heating and Cooling from a two-car garage in 2012. Leveraging his industry experience, local connections and entrepreneurial spirit, he built McNally’s into one of the top-performing HVAC companies in the region.
Today, McNally’s operates with a fleet of over 35 vehicles, employs 55 team members and will complete $69 million in sales by the end of 2024 in just under 10 years. However, he is most proud of the company’s presence and his family’s involvement.
“My father’s wishes were always for his children and family to work together, so when I see my own kids working the McNally’s booth at our local festivals, it keeps me enthusiastic in a different way,” said McNally. “Their excitement in spreading our last name is infectious and drives me to keep doing what I’m doing.”
Over the last three years, McNally has successfully navigated challenges posed by rising manufacturer prices and the influx of private equity into the HVAC sector. The company remains one of the few independently-owned HVAC companies in the area, and under McNally’s leadership, the company has flourished, earning accolades such as the best of the fox award four years in a row and being recognized among the top 1% of Lennox dealers nationwide.
McNally has bolstered his team by recruiting skilled employees, enhancing operational efficiency with new CRM software, and fostering a people-first culture. His leadership has been instrumental in securing partnerships with Costco, now spanning multiple retail locations, and participating in Lennox’s Feel the Love program, providing free HVAC systems to deserving families.
“Brian stays ahead of industry trends, leveraging the latest technologies and techniques to deliver efficient, cost-effective solutions that exceed customer expectations,” said his staff. “Daily, Brian has friends, colleagues in his industry, and local partners reach out for financial advice, market trends, negotiation skills, etc., and he is always there to help – his loyalty to his tribe is unwavering.”
McNally’s vision for the future includes maintaining family ownership while achieving $25 million in revenue by 2029. Plans are underway to expand with a new warehouse, add 25-50 employees and develop an in-house training platform to elevate industry standards.
From mentoring students to hosting employee appreciation events, McNally finds his passion in the community. “My love of community is what drives me, and knowing that we supported a local organization that helps foster kids or get a phone call from a local business owner looking for advice, these things keep my enthusiasm peaked.”
