Recognizing 100 CEOs & C-level Executives

Matt Burow, chief executive officer of Catalyst Construction, said his advice for the next generation of titans is to understand the power of positivity and its impact on people. “As leaders, our words and actions carry significant weight, so it’s crucial to foster an encouraging and optimistic environment,” he said. “Recognize that everyone’s voice matters, but our influence as leaders is particularly powerful, so use this influence to create a supportive atmosphere and inspire those around you.”

Fostering an encouraging and optimistic environment has been a key part of Burow’s leadership style since he founded the construction firm in 2004.

Catalyst Construction is an industry leader in the field of general construction. The firm is a team of highly motivated managers and staff dedicated to providing the best products, services and results available.

Since he was named a titan of industry, the Hall of Fame Titan 100 said his proudest accomplishment has been transforming the company into an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) firm. “This decision was driven by my deep commitment to loyalty and honesty, values I hold in the highest regard,” said Burow. “Starting Catalyst 20 years ago as the sole employee, I now have multiple team members who have been with me for 18 years, and making them owners through ESOP was my way of acknowledging their dedication and ensuring they had the opportunity to experience ownership as I have had.”

Additionally, coming together with NBA champion and community leader Pat Connaughton to create Three Leaf Partners (TLP) has been another significant achievement for Burow. “Our shared vision was to support mission-based organizations through construction and real estate,” he said. “The synergy of our shared dedication has resulted in TLP making a surprising and substantial impact in a short amount of time, and this experience has taught me the immense power of collaboration and the importance of creating opportunities for those who are loyal, honest and hardworking.”

Looking forward, Burow said his vision for the next five years is to see Catalyst and Three Leaf Partners continue to grow and make a significant impact in the industry, achieving a combined revenue of over $1 billion. Currently, both organizations together are approaching $600 million.

“Understanding your own purpose is key to effective leadership,” said Burow. “When you are clear about your mission and values, you can better guide others in finding their own purpose.”
