After graduating college, Jason Lasky felt a strong pull to understand the business his grandfather had started. Given the educational opportunities his grandfather had afforded him, it was important for Lasky to learn about the source of that opportunity.
“I shared with my father, who was the chief executive officer at the time, that I would commit five years to our company to see if I enjoyed it,” he said. “That was 25 years ago, and I have never looked back.”
Lasky, a third-generation leader in the company, alongside his two brothers, now serves as the president of SunCoast Communications, a business unit of Sadoff Iron & Metal Company. The legacy metals recycling company, now over 75 years old, has been a foundation for Lasky with potential for growth in the electronics recycling space.
In 2018, Lasky led the charge to open two greenfield locations for electronics recycling and built a team to grow our efforts in that area. The firm obtained R2 certification for electronics recycling for two dedicated facilities in two states and in January 2024, finalized the acquisition of SunCoast Communications, which offers a multitude of services to support the telecommunications industry. This acquisition boosted combined company revenues by over $12 million.
“A cornerstone of our mission is our unwavering support for our employees,” said Lasky. “We believe in being good stewards, providing a safe working environment, and offering ample opportunities for personal and professional development. Our dedication to our employees’ growth and well-being is a testament to our values and our commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture.”
Lasky said he strives to lead by example, celebrating his team’s contributions and maintaining open communication. “I share our vision for the future and how their roles play a crucial part in achieving that,” he said. “Whether through team meetings, one-on-one conversations or simply taking the time to acknowledge hard work, I try to create an environment where everyone feels empowered and aligned with our shared goals.”
Inspired by his grandfather, Lasky said making meaningful contributions to the community is at the heart of the company’s mission.
“We strive to make meaningful contributions to the areas where we operate, and this includes dedicating our time, effort, and financial resources to support local initiatives and drive positive change,” he said. “I firmly believe that if we have opinions about how our communities should be run, we also have a responsibility to get involved and make a difference.”
