Titan 100 Alumni Spotlight
As a Titan of industry what are some key strengths and unique selling points of your company and what do you believe sets your organization apart from your competition?
Eonian was created by my own struggles with my skincare after 40; I began mixing ingredients at home after I started having reactions to some of my favorite brands. After years of speaking to estheticians, dermatologists and a functional MD, I learned how much people’s skin changes after 40, 50, and beyond, and what ingredients actually help, and which can irritate, or harm, the skin barrier. What sets us apart is that we aren’t focused on ‘anti-aging’; we are committed to skin health through natural, clean ingredients.
What excites you most about the future direction of your company or industry?
Every month, there are new innovations in the health and beauty industry; people are more invested in healthy aging. I’m very interested in all of the new delivery systems, from small molecule to micro encapsulation, to home devices; there are many non-invasive ways to treat your skin. At Eonian, we are committed to developing new formulations, researching new ingredients, and not launching the same types of products that already exist in the market. For example, many brands have Hyaluronic Acid serum – and many do it very well. While HA is an important ingredient in skincare, and is in almost every product we make, if we can’t make a better HA serum, with an improved delivery system, then it doesn’t make sense for us to invest.
What non-profits and/or charities do you and or your company support and why?
Since we are a start-up, I’m looking ahead, and my greatest hope is to be able to donate a certain percentage of revenue to victims rights and recovery services. Organizations, such as the JAYC Foundation, offer trauma services to victims, their families, and provide special trainings for law enforcement, offering hope and healing to those who need it.
Can you describe your company’s approach to corporate social responsibility, and how you are making a positive impact in your community or beyond?
Eonian is committed to being environmentally responsible and supporting other small businesses; we have opted out of additional boxes for our products, we have recently switched our jars to glass, and any airless containers are being sourced from a manufacturer that produces the containers from 100% recycled materials. Our partners are all US, women-owned businesses that are GMP-certified, and in compliance with the new FDA MoCRA guidelines, in addition to being B-Corp certified.
Can you tell us about any upcoming product launches or innovations that you are particularly excited about?
In Q4, we will be launching the first clean, post-procedure cream, for women and men who have facial micro-needling or laser treatments. The product, Supreme Recovery Cream, took about 18 months to perfect. Through research, we discovered that most products were petroleum-based, and while they protect the skin, they do not take advantage of the healing process. Our formulation is comprised of pre-and-probiotics, and soothing natural ingredients, proven to promote healing, reduce irritation and redness, while nurturing, or feeding, the skin, helping to produce better results.
How do you ensure that your products or services are meeting the needs and expectations of your customers?
As a start-up in skincare, our customer’s feedback and experience is of utmost importance. Even though we have been in business less than a year, I have already worked with one of our labs to make small tweaks in the formulation of one of our best-selling products, based on the feedback of our customers. When our first two custom formulations were finalized, we also tested our products across different skin colors, types, and ages. It’s important to us that we have products that anyone can use, recognizing that some people may still have a reaction to certain ingredients.
Why did you name the company Eonian?
The word Eonian comes from the Greek word aionios, which means something that lasts for an indefinite or immeasurable period of time; it also means ageless and timeless, which is perfect for a skincare company focused on people over 40. During my 25-year corporate career, brand was an important aspect of my role, and I wanted a strong brand name that had meaning.
